Eurasian Eagle Owl photographed during a light snowfall. With their bright orange eyes, mottled feathers, and "ear tufts," Eurasian Eagle-owls are visually striking  animals. Their large, powerful feet and strong flight make them effective hunters. Like many raptors, these owls are top predators, preying predominantly on small mammals, birds of varying sizes, reptiles, amphibians, fish, large insects. With a wingspan of 5-6 ft and standing about 2 ft tall, the Eurasian Eagle Owl is one of the largest owl species in the world.

For most top predators, their only threat is humans. They play an important role in nature by helping to control populations of prey animals and maintain a balance in the ecosystems where they live.
