The true king of the north. This male polar bear was enjoying some well-earned rest atop his throne of drifting ice, bathed in golden Arctic light. From about 350 meters away, we quietly observed from our ship, grateful for the opportunity to witness such a powerful creature in its natural kingdom, and reminded once again that we are the visitors here.
