An encounter that was equal parts adrenaline and awe. This mother grizzly emerged from behind tall golden grass, walking directly toward our drift boat (no motor, just paddles to guide us). The river was shallow, giving her the freedom to move in any direction she chose. We held our distance, hearts pounding, fully aware of her power, and thankfully, she respected the space we gave her.
